ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Senator Martin Heinrich’s campaign today released a new ad focused on why Mitch McConnell and MAGA Republicans recruited multimillionaire former hedge fund executive Nella Domenici to run for U.S. Senate in New Mexico: to ban abortion nationwide.

“Nella Domenici is Mitch McConnell and MAGA Republicans’ handpicked candidate, funded by a party that has consistently attacked reproductive freedoms, including abortion access,” said campaign manager Brad Elkins. “They’re funding her campaign for one reason and one reason only: to advance their extreme agenda and pass a national abortion ban. New Mexicans cannot trust Nella Domenici to protect their rights when her alliances are with those who want to take them away.”

Two weeks ago Nella Domenici’s campaign released an ad funded by the National Republican Senatorial Committee—led by Sen. Steve Daines, who supports a national ban on abortion and has endorsed Domenici—attempting to obscure Domenici’s positions on abortion access and reproductive freedom.

But Domenici backed the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down Roe v. Wade and has attacked Sen. Martin Heinrich for opposing a national abortion ban. She is supported by leading Republicans, including Sen. John Thune, Sen. John Cornyn, and Sen. Steve Daines, all of whom would ban abortion nationwide. Domenici has also supported extreme anti-choice Republicans, including Rep. Yvette Herrell, who was an original co-sponsor of the Life at Conception Act and supports banning all abortions. She also donated to Mark Ronchetti after it was revealed he privately said he wanted to “end all abortions.”
